The Women in Finance edition

In honour of International Women’s Day on 8 March, we have dedicated this issue to profiling the formidable women who are not just participating in mortgage and finance broking, but are also leading it from the front.

After history was made last year when a woman topped The Adviser’s Elite Broker Ranking for the first time, we’ve this month partnered with Renown Lending to showcase the other amazing female brokers writing large volumes and running successful businesses. Our cover story this month (page 14) profiles the top 25 women who are achieving enviable settlement volumes and growth strategies and are setting a new benchmark for what is possible in our industry.

Make sure to check out our Elite Broker profile (page 10), as we sit down with Katie Thomas, who took out the top spot this year. In the profile, we discuss her journey to running a successful broking business and her insights into how she outpaced a highly competitive field. You can also listen to the full podcast with her via the QR code in the profile to hear her top tips directly!

Our New Broker ranking this month is also with a leading female broker – this time in the form of Nicole Taylor from Medifund. As we unpack on page 12, the asset finance broker is making waves in setting a new standard for asset and equipment finance and recently set up a Loan Market asset finance brokerage, in partnership with Kylie Rapson.

In the March edition, we’re also doing a deep dive into the macro-economic and structural shifts shaping the broking and mortgage world. In Stick or twist? (page 20), we analyse the current interest rate trajectory and what the “higher for longer” narrative means for your clients’ borrowing capacity. Meanwhile, in Evolve or dissolve (page 24), we explore the “merger frenzy” currently sweeping through the mutual bank sector and how this consolidation is altering the lending landscape.

We also turn our attention to the backbone of the Australian economy in a special feature sponsored by NAB (page 27). We look at how brokers are increasingly supporting regional and agribusiness growth, providing the vital credit flow needed to keep our rural communities thriving.

As we celebrate the achievements of women across the industry this month, it is a timely reminder that diversity of thought and leadership only makes our profession stronger. I hope the stories within these pages inspire you to reach new heights in your own business – and happy International Women’s Day!
