Pepper Money champions financial literacy for professional athletes
PEPPER MONEY, as part of its partnership with the Wests Tigers, has championed financial literacy for professional athletes. In a session titled Mastering Money On and Off the Field, Pepper Money CEO Mario Rehayem reminded the NRL players to focus on long-term financial resilience and planning beyond their next contract. His key principles included:
- Automate saving 10 per cent of your income.
- Consider investing in property.
- Don’t build spending habits around temporary high earnings.
- Choose the right people to lean on for advice (including brokers, financial advisers, and accountants).
- Build a future that lasts beyond the game.
Wests Tigers’ Jared Haywood said: “It was confronting, but in the best way. I walked out thinking about my future, and how I can make smarter choices starting today.”
