Seniors First celebrates 20 years
Reverse mortgage brokerage Seniors First brought together brokers, lenders, partners, and customers in Sydney in mid-May, to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The company first launched in 2006 and is one of the oldest continuing brands in reverse mortgages in Australia. The brokerage has written around 6,500 home equity release loans, capturing an estimated 20 per cent market share.
Seniors First CEO Darren Moffatt acknowledged the vital contributions of long-serving team members while praising core lending partners and event sponsors Brighten and Household Capital.
At the event, the brokerages also unveiled its new AI education assistant: SERAH (Seniors Equity Release Access Hub), which aims to provide a modern, scalable, and confidence- building experience for Australian borrowers over 55. It features a 24/7 AI-assistant, an educational video library, live application milestone tracking, and direct human support chat.

AFG Now! travels the country
Aggregation group Australian Finance Group (AFG) held its Now! broker conference across the country in May, bringing together mortgage brokers for a day of professional development and networking.
AFG Now! focused on how brokers are adapting to a changing market, evolving client expectations, regulatory pressure, and emerging technologies such as AI.
The keynote speech was delivered by Tristan Knowles, OAM, six-time Paralympian and World Champion wheelchair basketballer, who spoke about how brokers can retain a high performance, mindset, and resilience.
Gerard Burg, head of research at Cotality, provided a market update on the rapidly changing housing market, and AFG’s GM of aggregation, Christa Malkin, showcased what brokers and borrowers alike are seeing next. Brokers were also given a showcase of AFG tech updates across compliance, cyber regulatory changes, and AI from Russell Graham, the group’s head of product and design.
