Up and at ’em

I’m part of the 4:30am club. I’m up early most mornings.

I also go to the gym four days a week. I’m big on the gym.

Over the weekend, I try not to do too much work – I always used to do four or five hours on a Sunday. Now, it’s about family time for me.

Right balance

I think it’s important to avoid getting in your head as much. You’ve always got support. You’ve always got help. And just take the time to refresh if you need it. Don’t get stuck in work, work, work. You’re important too.

Quality time

I always try to spend as much time as I can with the kids. I always do bedtime because I’m not always there after school. I find if you read the kids a story and find out what their day was like, everything else sort of just slowly dissipates.

Pedal power

I coach one of my daughter’s soccer teams.

That helps – wrangling a bunch of six-year-olds. That’s been good for me this year. It makes me get home early and not stay in the office too late. You’ve got to find things outside work because it’s very easy to sit there and write another email or take another phone call.
