Start the new financial year by joining the thousands of Australians raising money for cancer support – while doing their livers a huge favour – during Dry July.
The free fundraiser calls on participants to go alcohol-free for the whole month, while encouraging friends, family, and workmates to donate and support their cause.
Every year, money raised by the initiative goes towards support for people who have been affected by cancer, including funding for specialist nurses and services.
This funding includes many important things that follow a cancer diagnosis, but may not immediately be front of mind, such as accommodation and transport.
However, if 31 days seem too long to last without a tipple, participants can receive a Golden Ticket from a supporter – at the minimum price of $25 – pausing the challenge for a night.
Chloe Mcleod, professional sports dietitian, nutrition consultant, and Dry July ambassador, also noted the personal benefits of participating in the challenge.
“Dry July is a great way to reassess your relationship with alcohol consumption and see the health benefits of taking a month off,” she said.
“If you’re signing up to raise money, you’ll also be helping people with cancer.”
