Australia’s mortgage and finance elite gathered in Sydney on Friday, 29 August for the 15th annual Australian Broking Awards, run in partnership with NAB, to celebrate the best of the best in the Australian mortgage and finance broking industry,
Around 700 brokers, lenders, and industry leaders attended the glittering cocktail luncheon, hosted by comedian Tom Ballard, for an afternoon of laughter, networking, and, in an added twist this year, a pop quiz on mortgage trivia.
This year’s awards featured 28 submission-based categories, including 12 individual and 16 group categories, recognising achievements across residential, commercial, and asset finance, as well as mentoring, technology, and training programs.
From 250 finalists, 29 winners were crowned, including the Broker of the Year (awarded to the highest-scoring winner from the individual broker categories).
Tom Hawley of Azura Financial walked away with the top honour of Broker of the Year 2025, having also secured Residential Broker of the Year for his standout service and commitment to educating home buyers.
Other top individual winners included Son Pham from Rethink Financing (Commercial Broker of the Year), Scott Rumble from Yakka Finance (Asset Finance Broker of the Year), and Tony Bice from First Choice Mortgage Brokers (Finance Broker of the Year).
Rising talent was recognised too, with Richard Brown from Mortgage Choice Epping, North Epping, and Beecroft taking the trophy for New Broker of the Year, while Ben Harris from In Financial Services was awarded Rising Star of the Year.
Group awards highlighted the achievements of aggregators, brokerages, and technology providers.
Notable winners included AFG (Major Aggregator of the Year), Aussie (Major Franchise Brokerage of the Year), Broker Essentials (Training and Education Program of the Year), and LoanOptions.ai (Technology Service Provider of the Year).
Adding a fun twist this year was the BrokerIQ Pop Quiz, a fast-paced mortgage trivia challenge. Delegates raced to answer 20 questions correctly, with the winner receiving a $5,000 cheque to donate to a charity of their choice. Kelly Fordham, a mortgage broker at Resolve Finance in Winston Hills, emerged victorious as the respondent with the most correct answers achieved in the fastest time.
Now in its 15th year, the Australian Broking Awards remains the premier platform recognising excellence in the mortgage and finance industry. Winners are chosen by a respected panel of industry leaders, with criteria including innovation, leadership, growth, diversity, and overall contribution to the sector.
For brokers, aggregators, and industry professionals, the awards are more than just trophies – they’re a chance to build credibility, celebrate achievements, and set a benchmark for excellence in Australia’s competitive finance landscape.
Congratulations to all of this year’s winners, and thank you to all our partners and judges for making the event possible!
