Q. What advice would you give to new brokers?

Guiding hand

Having the right support in a mentor is important.

Someone that’s going to be by your side. Someone that’s going to push and drive you.

In the moments when you think, “I’m actually not doing too well, I don’t think I should keep going.” It’s important to have someone to say, “Keep going.”

Practice makes perfect

I would just say stick at it. It’s a lot when you start, but after a while it’s all the same. It might seem like a lot, but a lot is just constantly the same thing on each file.

You will see it very clearly after a little bit.

Make it happen

You really need to nail the ability to create opportunity.

If you look at all of the top performers in our industry, it’s not about their ability to write a loan. It’s about their ability to generate opportunity, in my opinion.

Big-picture thinking

I think it’s important just to work hard, but not lose sight of why you’re doing what you’re doing. It can get super stressful as everyone knows it can get really demanding, and at times, it can get you down a little. But I think just going back to why you decided to do it.
