Networking at the AFG Sydney tennis event
The annual AFG charity tennis tournament in Sydney has netted more than $3,000 for the Foyer Foundation and served up plenty of fun for a record number of participants.
Now in its seventh year, the event was held at Tennis World Sydney Olympic Park and attracted more than 70 participants, including brokers and lender partners.
To gain entry to the event, brokers were asked to make a donation to the AFG Independence Fund at Foyer Foundation, which provides grants of up to $1,000 to support young people at risk of homelessness in purchasing one-off gifts to support their education or employment pathways.
AFG events manager Maria Mazzucco, who organised the annual event, said competition was fierce but fun.
“Every year the event gets bigger and better, leading to our biggest competition yet in 2025. The event provides an excellent day for brokers and lenders to network, with many of us certainly having a ball!” she said.
Community first: Broker vs AI classroom training
A special event for brokers, powered by Effi and hosted by Sadish Visvalingam, was held in Melbourne earlier this year to help brokers stay ahead of industry shift.
The Broker vs AI classroom training in Melbourne saw brokers from across the country gather to learn how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance efficiency, elevate client service, and future-proof their businesses.
But beyond the tech, the event stood for something bigger: community impact. All profits were donated to Kind Hearts Collective to use for Mother’s Day lunch and Refuge Victoria, proving innovation can also inspire change.
This hands-on training equipped brokers with powerful new tools, while showing that the future of broking is not just about technology – it’s about brokers.
