Mortgage brokerage appoints new sales manager

by Reporter10 minute read

Nectar Mortgages has announced that Stephen Harris has been appointed to the role of national sales manager at the mortgage brokerage.

As part of the brokerage’s expansion plans, the company has appointed Mr Harris, a mortgage broker at 123 Finance, to the sales role in a bid to boost recruitment of new brokers, particularly in Sydney and Melbourne.

According to the company, it is on the lookout for brokers settling around $1.5 million a month that are on the lookout for new referral partners.

Mr Harris, who started his role last week, told The Adviser: "I have many responsibilities as national sales manager, but in summary my role is to grow the business by increasing our broker numbers and lifting the volumes of everyone in the network. The world is changing in our industry, and while old methods can still be effective there are always new alternatives that need to be explored. That relates not only to how we generate leads, but also how we process our loans."

He added: "My decision was join Nectar as their national sales manager was first a decision to align my own business with theirs. After working with a business coach I knew what elements my business was missing if it was to go to the next level. When I looked around for ways to fill those requirements I found that Nectar already had the solutions. The option to become their national sales manager followed that first decision, and I’m very pleased with the move I’ve made. It’s very easy to be enthusiastic about your company and what it offers when you have 100 per cent belief in the product."

Mr Harris has previously held roles at AVCO, Westpac and AMP and recently operated three LJ Hooker home loan franchises.

“Stephen is a great addition to the Nectar team,” Nectar CEO Paul Newell said. “The experience he brings to this role and his willingness to share his expertise is a real opportunity for our up and coming brokers to learn and grow their portfolios.

“We’re all looking forward to working with him.”

The company says it can offer Nectar franchisees “leading technology systems”, a “unique referrer engagement program”, and customer relationship management tools.
