Award-winning broker recruits celebrity for TV campaign

A Brisbane-based broker has invested $100,000 in a new TV campaign starring a well-known comedian as it looks to grow their brand presence across the Sunshine State.

George Samios, founder of Madd Loans and winner of the Editor’s Pick category for Queensland at The Advisers Better Business Awards 2016, said the three-month campaign will include five different 15-second ads that star Australian comedian Vince Sorrenti, to be broadcast on Channel Seven and Channel Nine.

“The ads are all really weird but funny and people will think, ‘What the hell is going on?’, but that’s our branding,” he told The Adviser.

Mr Samios said the TV campaign will be accompanied by marketing on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, and the Madd Loans website will be rebranded to promote the campaign.

“Our brand speaks for itself. Everyone knows that we do the right thing, we find the right loans for our customers and we try to make the experience as fun as possible, so the ads are going to reflect that,” he said.

Mr Samios said the key reason for the state-wide campaign is to take the company further in its branding and visibility, rather than generating new business.

“We’ve done cinema advertising, we’ve done YouTube, we’ve done social media, we’ve done radio so I think the next step for us is doing TV because I believe once you’re on TV, you’re competing against Aussie and Mortgage Choice, which is where I want to be,” he said.

“I don’t expect to get any loans from this. I want to open up more offices and build a brand, so there’s no call to action in the ads – it’s just simple, funny branding.

“We probably will do a marketing campaign with these commercials after the Brisbane one, but Brisbane is our core.”

The campaign is scheduled to launch next month.
