Healthy body, healthy mind

I like to try to keep fit. I’ll try to go to the gym two or three times a week.

I enjoy running as well. On weekends, I’ll often try to do a long two-hour run. Once I get that done, I feel like I can switch off and spend time with the family.

Finding a social outlet

When I wake up, the first thing I do is go for a walk or go to the gym. Sometimes, I’ll do that in the middle of the day too or after work. I play footy as well – having a social outlet is really important, particularly when you’re self-employed or working from home. It’s really quite isolating. So, I think it’s important to have some kind of social outlet.

Walking the walk

I’m a long walk guy. I’m usually up pretty early, generally between 4am and 5am. And I’ll use that time in the morning to throw the runners on and get a long walk in. I usually go for an hour. I might put a podcast on and just spend some time before the sun comes up, the phone starts ringing, and the emails start coming in. That’s my space in the mornings.

Taken as read

I’m a big reader. I like to read books that take me out of my own head.

I think that bit of time away, where you can just get into a really great book and not think about the day’s stresses, helps.
